The retina is the tissue lining the back of the eye that is responsible for vision. It receives images somewhat like the film in a camera. The macula is the central part of the retina and helps with tasks requiring fine detail such as reading and driving. The vitreous is a transparent jelly-like substance in front of the retina that fills the rear two-thirds of the eye.
